In 2015, Joel wrote a bestselling book, Rewired, which he describes as “cognitive behavioral therapy for dummies”. Actually, the book describes how key stories in our subconscious mind are either rewarding us or holding us back. ‘Change your story, change your trajectory’ is how he describes the book in a catch phrase. The book also focuses on how the brain can be Rewired and some practical approaches to accomplishing that.
But what makes Joel truly remarkable is an event that he describes as ‘humbling and transformative”. At age 30, in what he calls a dream Naval career that allowed him to fly, train and advance, he found himself in a pending divorce from his wife of 6 years [at the time], Julie.
A huge believer that hardship in life will make us bitter or better, Joel chose to confront the unexplored dark corners of himself and watched a miracle unfold as both he and his wife were healed from significant wounds of past events. Amazed at how deep the change was and in a relatively short time, Joel felt compelled to leave his military career and enter the full time Christian ministry to help guide others through their own transformative experiences. Seventeen years later, and with 10,000 hours, Joel wanted to help as many as possible resolve conflict and find vision for their lives. That’s where The Performance Group was born.
The Performance Group is dedicated to helping companies and individuals find their way forward to a preferable future. Whether it’s from the seat of a race car, on a beach, or in your office, they are driven to exceed expectations and get clients what they really want.
When he isn’t working or spending time with family, you can find him cycling with good friends somewhere on the bucolic roads of north Atlanta.
