I’ve been doing a lot of research on trends related to wellness and wellbeing.  What really interests me are the patterns in life that keeps people motivated over the second half of their life.

One fascinating study of this involves communities of people in particular regions which have become known as Blue Zones. Blue Zones are five geographic areas worldwide that have a higher than usual number of people living much longer than average.

You can look at the research here:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6125071/

But before you do, I wanted to ask you to look at the graph above.  It’s a typical portrayal of the beginning and end of our lives – but there are two options.  The gold line follows a natural downward trajectory, whereas the green line tells us there’s a better way to live in the second half of life.  If you want a great second half, answer these two questions now:

  1. What are key elements to longevity?
  2. Am I building them into my lifestyle NOW?

So, here’s a spoiler alert from the research: Yes, diet and exercise play a role.  But aside from that, there are others that play big roles.  What are your thoughts?  What one or two other factors play a huge role in your ability to live a full life – especially through the second half?
